Arthur "Donnie" Hopkins of Covington, passed away March 22, 2018, at 79 years of age. Mr. Hopkins was a good Christian man and dedicated member of Sims Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from IBM as Operations Manager after 30 plus years of service. Mr. Hopkins had a fun-loving spirit which came to life every time he listened to "Doo-Wop" music or engaged with friends and family playing board games. Most notably, he loved to play Pictionary with his great-granddaughter, Destiny. Mr. Hopkins, who was gifted with an abundance of charisma, will also be remembered for being articulate, intuitive, and methodical. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Hopkins; son, Arthur Elliot Hopkins; as well as parents, Arthur H. and Gladys (Jones) Hopkins.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Mamie Hopkins; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Ben Smith; sons and daughter-in-law, Derrick Hopkins, Lamont and Jackie Parks; grandchildren, Ebony Smith, Kris Smith, Kiki Hopkins, Brandon Parks, Myles Parks, Adrianna Parks; great-granddaughter, Destiny Sarter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Pauline Hopkins, Victor and Teresa Hopkins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Hopkins will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Sims Chapel Baptist Church, 61 Sims Chapel Road, in Covington, with Rev. A. Faye Smith officiating and entombment following at Memory Chapel Mausoleum in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with his family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Friday, March 30th, from 5 – 8 PM.
