Sara Head Cooper

Sara Head Cooper of Covington, passed away March 11, 2018, at 79 years of age.  A native of Madison, where she graduated from Morgan County High School, she furthered her education at Marsh Business College, in Atlanta.  She moved to Covington in 1965, and was a very active member of First Baptist Church.  In addition to working as a Bus Monitor for Newton County Schools for 10 years, Ms. Cooper worked in bookkeeping for several businesses in Covington.  She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling – having visited all 50 states.  She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Pierce and Roberta (Jones) Head.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Andy Benz of Peachtree City; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Angela Cooper of Covington, Allen Cooper of Decatur; grandchildren, Daniel Cooper, Alex and Madison Cooper, Lexi Benz, Zac Benz.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Cooper will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher Street, NE, Covington, with Dr. Cody McNutt officiating.  Interment will follow in Madison City Cemetery, 420 West Central Ave., Madison, GA.  Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Tuesday, March 13, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers contributions, in memory of Ms. Cooper, may be made to First Baptist Church.
