Barbara Stowe Mitchell of Covington, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the age of 83. Mrs. Mitchell faithfully attended Newton Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and working puzzles. Mrs. Mitchell loved her family and others unconditionally – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 62 years, Rex J. Mitchell; parents, Melvin L. and Evelyn Stowe; brother, Samuel Stowe.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Ronnie Cowan, Joy and David Fielding, Rebecca and Dwayne Ratliff; son, Douglas Mitchell; grandchildren, Evelyn and Chad Kellett, Jacob and Afton Cowan, Emily and Ethan Howeth, Delaina Ratliff, Ean Fielding, Colt Ratliff; great-grandchildren, Addie Rose, Anneliese, Emma Grace, Ben; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Pat Middlebrooks, Mary and Irwin Sorrow; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Theresa Stowe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Mitchell will be held Friday, November 8, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Newton Baptist Church, 720 Jack Neely Road, in Covington, with Pastor Tony Howeth, Ethan Howeth and Chad Kellett officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, Thursday, November 7, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Newton Baptist Church Missions Fund, in honor of Mrs. Mitchell, 720 Jack Neely Road, Covington, Georgia 30016.
