Evelyn Long Jones, age 85, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020. The cornerstones of Mrs. Jones' life were faith, family, and friends. As an integral and supportive member of First Baptist of Covington, Mrs. Jones served her church with loyalty and dedication; past responsibilities included financial secretary and WMU Director. She counted time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as one of her greatest joys. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Jones; parents, Fred and Myrtle (Meeks) Long; and brothers, Earnest Long, Cecil Long.
Left to remember Mrs. Jones with love and affection is her husband of 64 years, Reed N. Jones; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Jones, David and Grace Jones, Stephen and Debbie Jones, Allen Jones; grandchildren, Cara Brown, Matthew Burley, Sarah Jones; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lindy, Tanner, Trevor, Whitney, Tara Evelyn; sister, Ruby Hampton; as well as brother, Fred Long, Jr.
A Private Graveside Service for Mrs. Jones will be held at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Baptist Church of Covington. Service information will be announced once arrangements have been made.
