obit for harold T. Harper

Harold T. Harper, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the age of 89. Mr. Harper dutifully and proudly served in both the United States Army and the United States Navy. He was a member and deacon at High Point Baptist Church and was retired from his much-loved job with Bellsouth after a remarkable forty-one years. In earlier days, Mr. Harper's love of hunting and farming beckoned him outdoors, where he devoted his energies to bailing hay, tending to his cows, and feeding the fish. He shared a special bond with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the ties that bound them together were the result of his unconditional love and attentive ways. Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Harper; parents, Lawrence and Luna (Reagan) Harper; sister, Agnes Betts; and brother, Clifford Harper.

Left to lovingly remember Mr. Harper is his wife of 16 years, Vicki Harper; daughter, Barbara Sowers; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Jana Harper, Scott and Lisa Harper, Will Polk; grandchildren, Laura Dufford, Eric Sowers, Jennifer Norman, Brian Harper, Andrew Harper, Laynie Polk, Lillie Polk, Zachery Polk; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Troy, Rachel, Carter, Kinsley, Charlotte; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Harper will be held Sunday, March 22, 2020, 2:00 P.M., at High Point Baptist Church, 12025 Highway 36, in Covington, with Pastor T.J. Bennett and Pastor Tom McElhaney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with his family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, March 21, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
