Obit - George Harold Traylor



George Harold Traylor, of Covington, passed away on January 13, 2013, at the age of 84.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many.  He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Business.  He worked for the Internal Revenue Service where he retired after 33 years of service.   He also served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  Mr. Traylor was a member of Oxford Baptist Church where he attended the Joy Sunday School Class. He was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church in Conyers, where he served as deacon prior to joining Oxford Baptist Church.  He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, fishing, working crossword puzzles and traveling.  He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Herbert and Gladys (Hill) Traylor; and 3 brothers.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Frances Howard Traylor of Covington; daughter, Debbie Traylor also of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Chris Traylor of Easley, SC and Steve Traylor of Covington; grandchildren, Brooke Traylor of Richmond, VA, Zeke and Adrienne Traylor of Farmville, VA; great-grandchildren, Gavin Traylor of Richmond, VA, Taylor Frink and Tyler Frink both of Farmville, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Jerry Van Curler of Covington; sisters-in-law, Eva Traylor of Atlanta, GA and Myrel Traylor of Chester, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Traylor will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Chuck Traylor, Rev. Jerry Van Curler and Dr. Ron Long officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 15, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oxford Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 128, Oxford, Georgia, 30054.
