Ted Eugene McMillan, Sr., of Covington, passed away January 29, 2013, at the age of 81. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and worked for Savannah River Plant, for 15 years. He and his brother, Bobby, owned and operated the Clover Farm Supermarket, in Savannah. In addition, Ted owned the following restaurants: Wishbone Fried Chicken in Newnan, East Dublin KFC in Dublin, The Loading Dock in Columbia, SC, Ruth's Family Restaurant, The Whataburger, both in Augusta, Evan's Diner in Evans, GA, Papa's Country Buffet in Doraville, P.J. Country Buffet in Newberry, SC, Central Park in Sumter, SC, and Mama Maria's in Covington. He was a member of Bay Branch Baptist Church, in Sylvania, GA, was actively involved in the Brotherhood at the church, and was also a Mason. Ted was a devoted husband and father; and was a kind and generous man who always wanted to help everyone in his life. He is loved, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Gresilda "Gres" McMillan; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Allen Halley, Tammy and John E. Hughes, Sr.; sons and daughter-in-law, Ted and Robin McMillan, Bowman McMillan; grandchildren, Michael and Keunte McMillan; Ashley Rainwater and Joey Arrington, Ted McMillan, III, Wesley Broome, Chris McMillan, Candice McMillan Josteph; Michell and Ryan Ownes; John E. Hughes, Jr., Charles and Sharea Stewart; great-grandchildren, Kyler Matthew McMillan, Peyton, Makenna, and Mason Ryan, Miranda, Devin, James, and Jacob Rainwater, Devon Arrington, Candence Broome, McKenzie McMillan, Jovan, Jemiah, and Christian Josteph, Lea Ownes, Andy Stewart; brothers, L.D. McMillan, J.B. McMillan.
A Memorial Service for Ted will be held Friday, February 1, 2013, 5:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, prior to the service, from 3:30-5:00 PM.
