Doris Evelyn Byrd of Covington passed away February 1, 2013 at Newton Medical Center. She was 82 years of age at the time of her death. Evelyn was a longtime member of Almon Baptist Church and loved flowers and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Susie Dire; husband, Wilbur Byrd; and son, Scott Byrd.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jimmy Minnick; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Robin Byrd, Mike and Diane Byrd, Mark and Sandra Byrd; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Byrd will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Jimmy Glaze, Rev. Mike Wadley, and Jay Singleton officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, February 3, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
