Mattie Louise Whitener, 72, of Porterdale, passed away February 12, 2013. Mrs. Whitener was a member of Grace Baptist Church, in Porterdale. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She loved her family and her grandchildren dearly. Mrs. Whitener was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Whitener; and her parents, Henry and Elmyra (Daughtery) Whitener.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Finger, Daisy Whitener, both of Porterdale; grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph and Nicole Finger of Maryville, TN, Angela and Kevin Bone of McDonough, Richard and Emma Finger of Hill Air Force Base, UT; great-grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Lexi, Danny; sisters, Rosa Heatherly, Pearl Suttles, Clara Statham; brother, Jacob Whitener; and several nieces.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Whitener will be held Friday, February 15, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Grace Baptist Church, 474 Crowell Road, Porterdale, with Pastor Phillip Bone officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Thursday, February 14, from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to C.A.R.E Inc., P.O. Box 743, Porterdale, GA 30070.
