Sandy Michelle Cunard, better known as "Sunshine", left this earth far too soon on February 20, 2013. She cherished her family and friends dearly and always had a smile that would light up the room. Sandy loved life, and enjoyed spending time with her friends, dancing, singing karaoke, clogging with her group, the Dixie Delights, and she always looked forward to the girl's annual Christmas shopping trip. She also enjoyed her girl's night out. Sandy and Kim had a hard time with directions; it seemed like every trip ended in Lawrenceville, no matter where they had planned to go. She was the perfect example of a loving mother, and always enjoyed game night with the kids and loved playing practical jokes back and forth with her son, Trevor. Sandy is loved, and will forever be missed by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Dorothy Smith; grandfather, Norman M. Williamson; and father, Tony E. Martin.
Survivors include her daughter, Miranda Cunard; sons, Trevor Cunard and Chelsea Raines, Evan Cunard, all of Covington; mother, Carol Martin of Oxford; father, Larry Wilbanks, and his wife, Cindy, of Conyers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Kim Wilbanks of Oxford, Jamie and Megan Wilbanks of Covington; Nana, Rita Williamson of Oxford; step-brother and step-sister, Neal Martin of Washington, D.C., Lisa Jackson of Social Circle; step-sisters, Katie Mitchell of Covington, Keri Stekskal of Conyers; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services for Sandy will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013, 3:00 PM, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 108 E. Macedonia Church Road, in Oxford, with Pastor Frank Daws and Dr. Larry Cheek officiating, and interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, Saturday, February 23, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
