Thomas Watson Jenkins, Jr., 86, of Rockledge, GA, formerly of Oxford, GA, died February 15, 2014, at Serenity Hospice in Dublin. Mr. Jenkins was born in Redan, July 28, 1927, to the late Thomas Watson Jenkins, Sr., and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ruth Holt. He served in the United States Marines from 1945-1946. He worked 42 years at Ponce de Leon Ford Tractor Company, in Decatur. He retired, in 1989, and moved to Rockledge to enjoy farming. He raised cattle, baled hay and loved planting a garden. Mr. Jenkins was a hunter and a fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Mildred “Mickey” Marie McAlpin; daughter, Janet Sue Jenkins; grandson, Mac Kenneth Taylor; parents; and his sister, Jane Grace Slaton.
Survivors include his seven children, Michael and Leslie Jenkins of Dacula, Becky Crews of Griffin, Peggy and Kenneth Taylor of Stockbridge, Joy and Richard Hardy of McDonough, Tico Flowers of Dahlonega, Tammie Tancraitor of Oxford, Bonnie Crews of Orange Park, FL; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Emma Jo Burks of Morrow, Sara Ann and James Cook of Greenville, GA, Mary Culberson of Anderson, SC; brother, James Holt Jenkins, Sr., of Rocky Plains, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jenkins will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Rev. Dahl McDermot officiating and interment following in Redan Cemetery, in Redan, at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
