Obit - JoAnn Autry

JoAnn Autry of Covington passed away April 4, 2015, at the age of 68. JoAnn was an active member of Newton Baptist Church where she served as Secretary of the Ambassadors Sunday School class and enjoyed singing in the choir. A former member of County Line Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church, she loved teaching Sunday school classes, working with the youth, VBS, GA's and ladies groups. JoAnn enjoyed all fellowship and organized Couples Retreats at County Line Baptist Church. She liked to travel and learn the history of different states. After working with Oxford Manufacturing Company for 20 years and Stanley Proto for 6 years, she was a Manager with Home Interiors. She also spent several years as a caregiver for families in Newton County. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she adored spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher (Chris) Autry; her parents, Troy and Carrie Lou Loyd Mobley; sisters, Louise Stone, Seleta Rutledge, Francis Harrison, Ruth Martin and brother, Homer (Bud) Mobley.

 

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Wayne Autry; daughter and son-in-law, Shiree and Bryan Robinson of Covington; sons, Derrell Autry of Covington, Derrick Autry and his wife, Heather of Covington, Jody Autry of Monticello; grandchildren, Hillary Johnson, Dylan, Johnson, Califf Carnes, Matt Autry, Justin Autry, Jaron Autry, Bryant Autry, Christopher Autry, Matthew Robinson, Chloe Robinson; great-grandson, Camden Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for JoAnn will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 3:00 PM, at Newton Baptist Church, in Covington, with Rev. Tony Howeth officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 2:45 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Newton Baptist Church Youth Fund, 720 Jack Neely Road, Covington, GA 30016.
