Helen Ridgeway Vaughn of Hiram, GA, passed away January 20, 2018, at 98 years of age. In addition to taking care of her own home and family, always providing delicious meals for them, she cared for children from other families. An avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan, Mrs. Vaughn enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She cherished her family, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Elliott (Kitty) Vaughn; sons, Max Lanier Vaughn, Walter Edward Vaughn; and parents, George Hunt and Linda (Tyus) Ridgeway.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Richard Sammons of Hiram; grandchildren, Suzy Vaughn of Smithfield, MO, Lanier Sammons, Lee Sammons, both of Hiram; great-grandchildren, Lauren Sammons, Adrian Sammons, John Sammons; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Vaughn will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Dr. Rusty Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson City Cemetery, 485 W. College Street, in Jackson. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
