obit for Mrs. Sears

Florence Sears of Porterdale, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the age of 92.  Mrs. Sears was a devout Christian and faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She delighted in attending services with her family and oftentimes cooked dinner for everyone on Sundays. Known as the pillar of her family, Mrs. Sears always played a supportive role in each of their lives - whether hosting family birthday parties at her home, or, spending time with her grandchildren. She had a giving heart and was always willing to help with various charities and others in need. Mrs. Sears liked doing crossword puzzles, looking on Facebook, and eating out with family. Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hollon Sears; parents, William and Beulah Hughes; sisters, Dorothy Hughes Oats, Verline Hughes Solomon; brothers, Fredrick Lee Hughes, Paul Lee Hughes, Robert Franklin (Bud) Hughes; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Sears.

 

Survivors include her son, Garry Sears, Russell H. Sears; daughter, Barbara Webber; grandchildren and their spouses, Kirk Sears, Staci and Bryan Satterfield, Brad and Tonya Sears, Lee and Brenda Sears, Brian and Tiffany Dean, Tony Webber, Dawn Webber: great-grandchildren; Kaleb Sears, Khristian Sears, Win Satterfield, Jake Sears, Jada Sears, Hollie Sears, Baylee Dean, Dylan Dean, Hannah Sears, Simon Luke Sears; sisters, Zenobra (Nobie) Hughes Sinclair, Mary Francis (Sis)  Hughes Dameron; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sears will be held Monday, May 7, 2018, 4:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dr. William L. (Bill) Herndon officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, two hours prior to her service, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
