Sue "Mema" Bartlett of Oxford, age 93, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019. Mrs. Bartlett was many things: a loving woman who enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren; a hard worker who took immense pride in providing and supporting her loved ones (she sold Avon for over forty years); and a spirited, caring mother and grandmother who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed going out to eat with family, sitting on her back porch and bird-watching, and was known for giving visitors a task to do whenever they stopped by the house. Mrs. Bartlett was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Ellis; second husband, John Henry Bartlett; son, Rickie Ellis; sister, Mary Lou Ellis; and brother, Ernest Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jimmy Ward; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Martha Ellis, Danny and Gay Ellis, all of Oxford; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Hawk of Covington; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Bartlett will be held Monday, February 4, 2019, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Pastor Dave Nelson and Pastor William Herndon officiating and interment following in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 108 W. Macedonia Church Road, in Oxford. Friends may visit with Mrs. Bartlett's family, Sunday, February 3, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Covington.
