Joann Hammonds Ogletree of Covington, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the age of 86. Mrs. Ogletree was an active member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, in Porterdale, where she attended worship. She was a dedicated employee for BellSouth and retired after 40 years of service. Mrs. Ogletree loved her family - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed meeting her "coffee group" every Wednesday at Bojangles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pauline Hammonds.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Melvin "Buster" Ogletree; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Ron Michaelis, Lisa and Ricky Day; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Angie Ogletree; grandchildren, Josh Ogletree, Reagan Lehman, Ben Ogletree, Shannon Langley, Dustin Johnson, Hannah Parris, Evan Ogletree; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Carol Hammonds; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Ogletree will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Roger Cato, Bill Norton and Ben Ogletree officiating and entombment following in New Covington Cemetery Mausoleum, in Covington. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Monday, October 7, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 700 Porterdale, GA 30070.
