Sidney E. Bailey, of Conyers, entered Heaven Monday, October 7, 2019, at 86 years of age. A true man of God, Sidney, an ordained minister and hospital chaplain, served on staff of numerous churches and was a member of Victorious Life Church in Conyers. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, had a long career at Delta Airlines, was a licensed pilot, and served on the board of several non-profit organizations. He was a beloved and loyal husband, father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Pastor "Sid", friend, and co-worker. No matter your relationship to Sidney, he was always ready with a smile, a story, or an encouraging word. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Clareece (Hay) Bailey; brothers, Doyle Bailey, Royal Bailey, and Ancel Bailey; as well as grandson, Jonathan Naizer.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his devoted wife of 65 years, Ruth (Mitchell) Bailey; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Dudish; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Teri Bailey; grandchildren, Tony and Becky Dudish, Lori and Justin Wojtczak, Seth and Lindsay Bailey, Reid and Madison Bailey, Mikayla Bailey, Zach Naizer, Elizabeth Naizer, Jessica Naizer; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Walker, Finley, Kylin, Sawyer, Charlee Rose; sister, Brenda Capps; sister-in-law, Barbara Bailey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service for Sidney will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Gene Bailey officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday, October 11, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
