obit - Carolyn Harden

 

Carolyn Harden, of Clayton, GA, formerly of Oxford, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020, at the age of 99. Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Harden grew up in the Cascade Road area of the city. In 1970, she and her husband, Charles, made their home in Conyers. Mrs. Harden was a vital member of Macedonia Baptist Church, in Oxford, where she filled various roles during her stewardship. She enjoyed assisting the Senior Adults plan adventures in travel, and her servant's heart blended seamlessly with her love for teaching Sunday School. In addition to the 36 years Mrs. Harden led Sunday School classes at Macedonia Baptist, she also taught at Damascus Baptist in Long Creek, SC. In 2008, she moved to Clayton, GA, the place she called home for the remainder of her days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walton Harden, Sr.; daughter, Judy Fetner; son, Charles Harden, Jr.; and her parents, Joseph Cobb and Jennie (Lackey) Edge.

 

The beautiful life and legacy of Mrs. Harden will live on in the hearts of her daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Dan Seale of Social Circle, GA; Diane and Melvin Easler of Ballground, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Walton Harden, Ronnie and Regina Harden, all of Clayton, GA; 10 grandchildren; as well as 20 great-grandchildren.

 

A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Harden will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020, 12:00 Noon, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating and interment following in  Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 677 American Legion Road NE, in Conyers. Friends are invited to visit with her family at the funeral home, one hour prior to her service, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon. Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 108 West Macedonia Church Road, Oxford, GA 30054.

 

CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.  In addition, gatherings are limited to 50 persons or less in our facility at one time.  Please honor these restrictions for the safety of the family, yourself, and our staff.
