Carolyn Mitchell

Carolyn Mitchell of Oxford, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the age of 67. Mrs. Mitchell was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, in Conyers, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes and helping with the Vacation Bible School program. For many years she was a dedicated teacher at Stone Mountain Christian School and a long standing employee with the US Department of Labor before enjoying her days in retirement. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed traveling to different places and loved spending time with her grandchildren who she shared a special bond with. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Mitchell; parents, Horace and Vera McGiboney; brothers, Floyd McGiboney, and Vandy McGiboney.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Brooke Mitchell; grandchildren, Levi Mitchell, Hadley Mitchell; brother, Leonard McGiboney; as well as other loving family members.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Mitchell will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Rick Stucke officiating and interment following in Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery, in Oxford. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday, February 12, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, https://www.kidney.org.

 

CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public.  Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.  In addition, gatherings are limited to 50 persons or less in our facility at one time.  Please honor these restrictions for the safety of the family, yourself, and our staff.
