Tommy Bowers, age 66, of Social Circle, passed away March 23, 2015. He and his wife, Margie, started Bowers Fabrication Service, in 1982, with a pick-up truck and a welder and grew it to a 50,000 square foot under roof state-of-the-art facility with 30 employees. Additionally, Tommy raised an extensive cattle farm with all types of animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a master gardener. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucile (Fortenberry) Bowers.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Margie Bowers of Social Circle; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Kevin Simpson; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Angela Bowers, all of Oxford; grandchildren, Christopher Bowers and wife, Amanda, Katelyn Bowers, Kellan Simpson, Greer Simpson, Shea Simpson; sisters, Geneva Pitman, Dorothy Gregory, Charlotte Beavers, Angie Dokos; brother, Melvin Bowers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Tommy will be held Friday, March 27, 2015, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 26, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
