James "Jim" Hammond

James "Jim" Hammond of Conyers, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the age of 80. Mr. Hammond retired after 32 years of dedicated service from Atlanta Gas Light. A faithful member of Rockdale Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon and a handyman to the church and congregation. Mr. Hammond was an artist and enjoyed playing golf. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosser and Cecelia Hammond.

 

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jackie Rogers Hammond; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Bobby Durden, Julie and Mike Brimberry; three grandchildren, David and Christina Durden, Lesley and Dalton Bragg, Kealey Brimberry; four great-grandchildren, Jonah, Bryleigh, Jacob, Tiger, and one on the way; sisters, Mary Reynolds, Martha Adcock; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A Memorial Service for Mr. Hammond will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Road SW, in Conyers, with Dr. Billy Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 699 American Legion Road, NE, in Conyers. Friends may visit with the family at the church, one hour prior to his service, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
