Vannelle "Van" Edwards Vanderwater, 81, of Covington, passed away January 9, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother her beautiful smile, strength and love for life will be missed by all. Van was born in the Almon community of Covington, Georgia on February 28, 1937 to the late Rufus and Grace Edwards. She was a 1954 graduate of Newton County High School and attended Georgia State University from 1954 to 1957. A longtime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, she was active in United Methodist Women, Sunday School and many other church activities. Van and her late husband, Glen, were world travelers. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Glen Vanderwater.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie Miller and Rich Giddens, Dr. Lisa Miller and Mike Dauphin all of Covington, Ginger and Byron Blair of Indialantic, FL; grandchildren, Jackie Grubel (Richard), Scott Warren, Anna Warren, Kelsey Blair, Gracie Miller, Shelby Blair; great-granddaughters, Maddie Mae Grubel, Jordan Grace Warren-Nolan, Skylar Rae Grubel; sister, Bobbie Ann Tubb of Flower Mound, TX; niece, Laura Dawes; nephew, Will Tubb.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Vanderwater will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 10 Almon Church Road, in Covington, with Rev. Mike Wadley officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Chapel Mausoleum in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Friday, January 11, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Donations can be made in her memory to Shiloh United Methodist Church, Covington, Georgia.
