Walter Earl Recore, Jr., of Covington, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the age of 68. A corporal in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Recore proudly served as part of the 2nd Marine Division during the Vietnam War. Though he earned several awards of distinction, his most notable honor was the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. In 1970, he was honorably discharged. Mr. Recore enjoyed keeping in touch with his friends from all over the world with his amateur radio, also known as ham radio, and CB radio. Known as "Poppy" to his seven grandchildren, he loved his family dearly. Mr. Recore was a very strong and loving individual. He enjoyed being at home and Christmas was a favorite of his. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Earl Recore, Sr.; mother, Betty Jean Recore; brothers, Bruce Recore, Dale Recore; sister, Linda McCombie.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Recore; daughters, Amy Sagehorn, Rebecca Holmes; sons, Russell Recore, Andrew Recore.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Recore will be held Friday, January 4, 2018, 4:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Noel Humphrey officiating.
