Donnie G. Sanders, of Porterdale, passed away January 13, 2021, at the age of 86. Affectionately known as "Papa D", Mr. Sanders held closely to his love of family, church, and his unshakable faith in God. His kind ways and tireless work ethic endeared him to all, especially in his role as caretaker for his beloved church. Mr. Sanders had a quiet, unassuming strength which served him well but was perhaps most evident in his fight to overcome cancer - four times over! He was preceded in death by his grandson, Edwin Sanders; parents, Vincent and Pearl Sanders; sister, Juanita Roberts; and brothers, Hubbard Sanders, Ray Sanders.
Mr. Sanders will be remembered with love by his wife, Sara Sanders; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Phyllis Sanders, Garland and Charlotte Sanders; grandchildren, Marcus and Lauren Sanders, Crystal and Jake Kidd; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Percy Greenlee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Eugie Sanders, Clay and Barbara Sanders, Casey and Susan Sanders; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Gathering for Family and Friends will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, from 6-8 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
A Graveside Service to honor Mr. Sanders will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021, 2 PM, at Parkway Cemetery, 823 South Huntington Street, Kosciusko, MS. Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, January 16, from 6-8 PM, at Jordan Funeral Home, 855 MS-12, in Kosciusko.
CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services. In addition, gatherings are limited to 50 persons or less in our facility at one time. Please honor these restrictions for the safety of the family, yourself, and our staff.
