Emmett Gaylor, of Covington, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at the age of 79. Driven for success and curious in nature, Mr. Gaylor's career followed many paths. He spent 27 years employed with Delta Airlines before pursuing work as a police officer. Mr. Gaylor was sworn to protect and serve the city of Monticello and he did so with immense pride. His next endeavor garnered him great success as a real estate agent selling custom homes in Florida. Finally satisfied with the idea of fully retiring, he moved back to Covington and settled in for a slower-paced life. Mr. Gaylor carved out time to follow sports – baseball above all else, and he was known for his recall of sports statistics. In addition, he had an affinity for animals and could name them all by species. Mr. Gaylor was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lynn Gaylor; and parents, Emmett, Sr., and Lillian (Snellings) Gaylor.
With love and affection, Mr. Gaylor's memory will carry on with his daughters and son-in-law, Kristen Leigh Gaylor, Kimberly and John O'Brien; grandchildren, Tyler Jordan and Jodie Kennedy, Katelynn Grace O'Brien, Jon and Tryna O'Brien, Colin and Whitney O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Mariyah, Claire, Caroline, Kylee, Caison, Willow; as well as his beloved dog, Bailey.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Gaylor will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, 1:00 P.M., at Westminster Memorial Gardens, 2090 Highway 54, in Peachtree City, with Larry Barnett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
