Vermelle "Vern" Thrasher, of Covington, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the age of 80. Known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, Mrs. Thrasher's true self was evident in the way she interacted with family and friends. She was a hands-on mom who rarely missed her daughters' activities. In her heart's desire to serve, Mrs. Thrasher was always active in her local church community including ushering, caring for babies in the nursery, and co-teaching Sunday School, to name a few. Her warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed, but her memory will serve as comfort to the family she adored. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her parents, James and Corinth "Rint" Priester.
The love and life of Mrs. Thrasher will be remembered by her husband of 57 years, Robert Thrasher; daughters and sons-in-law, Saunja and Damon Hudson, Stacye and Cedric Brim, Shannon and Phil Bynes; grandchildren, Anisa Bynes, Skylar Hudson, Saige Hudson, Nia Bynes, Malia Bynes; in addition to her aunts and cousins.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Thrasher will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
