obit for John J. Horne

John J. Horne, of White Plains, GA, passed away January 11, 2021, at the age of 64. A longtime resident of Walton County, John was a member of Plumbers, Pipefitters & Service Technicians Local 72 and retired after 43 years of loyal service and hard work. In 2012, he and his wife, Diane, built their dream home -lovingly referred to as "The Farm"- on family land in White Plains. In the days before settling down to life on the farm, John attended Valley Brook Baptist Church, in Decatur, where his heart was called to serve in both the music program and youth ministry. His time outside of work and family was spent pursuing others interests – playing softball and music were among his top picks. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Clyde and Jimmie Naomi Jordan; and sister, Joy Ellis.

John's memory will never be far from those who loved and adored him, especially his wife of  32 years, Diane Horne; daughter and son-in-law, Brenna and David Braswell of Winston, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Caleb and Elizabeth Horne of Williamstown, WV, Michael and Lindsey Smith of Monroe, GA; parents, Walt and Marilyn Horne of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Lyla Kate Smith, Connor Horne, Titan Horne, Daniel Horne; sisters and brother-in-law, Jessica Hayes, Kori and Chris Lance, Alice Bradford, Faith Kennedy, Wanda Staples; brother, Tom Jordan; nieces, Vivian Lance, Nora Lance, Genna Lance, Madison Bradford, Michelle Bradford; nephew, Garrett Hayes; as well as numerous additional nieces and nephews.
