Alton Freeman, of Covington, passed away June 19, 2015, at the age of 74. Mr. Freeman was an active member of The Baptist Tabernacle, where he served in many capacities over the years, including: Sunday School Superintendent, Training Union Superintendent, boys Sunday School teacher, choir member and church treasurer. He was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed fishing. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Frances Freeman.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Freeman; children and their spouses, Kathy and Doug Kitchens, Robin Giles, Wade and Tammy Freeman; grandchildren and their spouses, Clint and Tracey Kitchens, Emily and Austin Mitchell, Chris and Jenny Giles, Joe Giles, Daniel Cooper, Glynn and Kasey Giles, Katie Giles, Amber and Matt Davis, Ashley and Kevin Gorman; great-grandchildren, Lily Kate Mitchell, Colton Davis, Paisley Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and John Womack.
Funeral Services for Mr. Freeman will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 11:00 AM, at The Baptist Tabernacle, in Covington, with Dr. David Moody, Dr. R. Hudson Moody, Rev. Clayton Bone and Rev. Keith Dunn officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Monday, June 22, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted or contributions in his memory may be made to The Baptist Tabernacle Building Fund, 10119 Access Road, Covington, GA 30014.
