Lance Barefield of Conyers, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the age of 77. Mr. Barefield was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church. He selflessly served his community as a Shriner. Additionally, he was a Mason in the Bevedeer Lodge in McDonough. Mr. Barefield was the second-generation owner and operator of the family business, Barefield Tool Service, Inc., in South Atlanta. He had a passion for old cars and trucks and would often buy and restore them and attend car shows. Mr. Barefield retired from AAA Cooper as a truck driver. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Barefield was preceded in death by his son, Lance "Allen" Barefield; parents, Homer and Rosa Barefield; brother, Johnny Barefield.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Barefield; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Hubert Barefield, Philip Joel and Cara Barefield; grandsons, David Allen Barefield, Jeffery Lance Barefield, Matthew Donald Barefield, Philip Andrew Barefield; great-grandchildren, Wesley Barefield, Layne Barefield, Shyann Barefield, Savannah Barefield, Carley Jo Barefield, Brystol Barefield, Joseph Barefield, Elaina Barefield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Barefield will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with Rev. Warren Huddleston, Mr. Ray Musgrove and Rev. Lawrence Lockett officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Wednesday, May 22, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
