Lyra M. (Osley) Cocchi

Lyra M. (Osley) Cocchi of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the age of 88. Mrs. Lyra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a longtime member of Gaithers United Methodist Church where she and Bill were faithful members. They lead the Senior Saints ministry for many years. Mrs. Lyra never missed Sunday School. She was honored with lifetime perfect attendance. Mrs. Lyra dedicated 28 years to Sears and Roebuck Company where she processed orders and exceeded her quota daily. She served on Mansfield City Council for 16 years alongside her husband, Bill, Mansfield's Mayor. Mrs. Lyra's hobbies included doll collecting, antiquing, and she dabbled in painting landscapes. You never heard a harsh word from her lips. She showed kindness and love to everyone and saw the best in them. Mrs. Lyra was loved by many. She enjoyed and treasured the time spent with family, friends and being with her one true love, Bill. Until his homegoing you never saw one without the other. Mrs. Lyra will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William "Bill" Alfred Cocchi, Sr.; parents, Kelly and Lula Osley; sister, Mildred Osley; brothers, Kelly W. Osley, Jr., Gordon Osley, and Tom Osley.          

 

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and Edward Akers, Susan Cocchi; sons and daughters-in-law, William, Jr., and Sarah Cocchi, David and Connie Cocchi; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Anita Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Cocchi will be held Thursday, May 9, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Gaithers United Methodist Church, 1375 Newton Factory Bridge Road, in Covington, with Pastor Danny Standard and Pastor Joe Peabody officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Wednesday, May 8, from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. and again Thursday, May 9, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the church.
