Henry Parker of Oxford, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the age of 93. Mr. Parker was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church. He retired after 44 years of dedicated service at Bibb Manufacturing. Mr. Parker had an independent and strong-willed demeanor which enabled him to overcome a physical handicap – never letting it slow him down or hinder him in any way. He enjoyed eating catfish at Hendersons, being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was a very loving husband and a father to his nieces and nephews. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Edith Parker; parents, Robert and Nora Jane (Lloyd) Parker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie Lou and Claude Smith, Sara Parker and Acie Wilder.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Martha McGiboney; as well as nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Parker will be held Monday, June 24, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Canaan Baptist Church, 5581 Salem Road, in Covington, with Pastor Billy Ingram officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Sunday, June 23, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canaan Baptist Church Missions Fund.
