Florine Halstead DeConinck, of Covington, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the age of 89. Mrs. DeConinck had a strong sense of family and a love of the outdoors. Although her main focus was family, she also made time to enjoy being outside – whether working in her flower garden or feeding the birds squirrels. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Halstead, Sr.; daughters, Gail Halstead Hogan, Lynn Halstead Cockrum; and second husband, Paul Deconinck, Sr.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Halstead LaCroix, Sharon Halstead Smith and husband, Ernie, Nancy Halstead Hamlin and husband, Richard, Lynn Cockrum; son, James R. Halstead, Jr.; step-daughters, Karen Joe and husband, Phillip, Susan Johnson and husband, Kirk, Paula Bartlett and husband, Dan; step-son, Paul DeConinck; grandchildren, Courtney Jennifer Hoover and husband, Laird, Amanda Gwynn Smith, George Charles Preffer and wife, Cathryn, Kimberly Oravec and husband, Ben, Christopher Ryan Cockrum, Andrew Stephen Cockrum; step-grandchildren, Kathryn Fritchman and husband, Michael, Philip Joe, Kimberly Joe, Carolyn Johnson, Emma Bartlett, Clara Fern Bartlett; Kaylyn Bell, Jordan Bell; as well as several great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. DeConinck will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, three hours prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon – 3:00 P.M.
