Joanie Vaughn, of Concord, North Carolina, formerly of Oxford, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the age of 67. Of the Christian faith, Joanie was a former member of Victory Tabernacle, in Conyers, where she was the president of the Ladies Missionary Group. She was a person whose daily life demonstrated her Christian values – Joanie treated others with compassion and kindness and put their needs above her own. She appreciated the simple things in life; she spent time with family and liked to cook and bake, and in her younger years, she was known for her love of sewing. Joanie's family, whom she adored and loved without end, will remember her for being an attentive and loving wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry R. Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 48 years, Charles A. Vaughn; daughters and son-in-law, Sallye Vaughn Starr, Hannah Vaughn Oliver and Kevin P. Oliver; grandchildren, Andrew Oliver, Katherine Oliver, Emily Starr, Abby Oliver; parents, Luther and Johnnie Ruth Johnson; sisters, Donna Bray, Brenda Scarbrough, Julie Thomason; brothers, Lanier Johnson, Tony Johnson, Wade Johnson, Andy Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Joanie will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Doug Nelms and Pastor Ashley Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with her family at the funeral home, Thursday, June 20, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
