Obit - Clinton Hassas

Clinton Hallas of Covington passed away December 24, 2014, at the age of 79. Mr. Hallas was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served with the 7th fleet on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. He was an active member and deacon of East Newton Baptist Church. He earned his pilot's license, circa 1972, and enjoyed flying ever since. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, playing golf, traveling and camping. Mr. Hallas loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with them. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Laytham; his son, Terry Fortson; and his brothers, Glenn and Bryan Hallas.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Nell Hallas of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Clinton and Kristi Hallas of Monticello, Steven and Denise Fortson of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Emily, Amanda, Jonathan, Shana, Danny, Amy, Steven, Jeremy and Sean; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Judy and Beverly; brother, Melvin Hallas; and several nieces and nephews.  

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Hallas will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Tom Lee officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, December 28, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
