Jean Thomas of Social Circle, passed away December 25, 2014, at the age of 70. She was a faithful member of Porterdale Baptist Church and cherished her church family dearly. She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her family. Jean was a compassionate woman, who always wanted to do for others without expecting anything in return. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma (Lowe) Knight; father, Coley Spires; and her brother, Howell Spires.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Bobby Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Jim Malcom of Bostwick; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Sara Thomas of Monroe; grandchildren, Carl Johnson, Maci Thomas, Victoria and Taylor McDaniel, Savannah Thomas; sister, Miriam Carrow of N. Augusta, SC; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Jean will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014, 3:00 PM, at Porterdale Baptist Church, with Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, December 27, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church, or the Relay for Life Team at Porterdale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 637, Porterdale, GA 30070.
