James "Jimmy" Robert Vassak, Jr., of Monroe, passed away December 13, 2014, at the age of 53. Jimmy was a kindhearted person, who was always willing to help others, yet expected nothing in return. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing pool and tinkering in his garage. Jimmy loved life, adored his family and cherished the time he spent with his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Helen Ann (Kalba) Vassak.
Survivors include his wife, Gay Vassak; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Joe Bledsoe of Statham; son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Tara Smith of Monroe; granddaughters, Alexis and Eliana Smith; sisters, Theresa Ann Washington of Flomot, TX, Jodi Folchetti of Cumming; brothers, Michael Vassak of Dacula, Kevin Vassak, Raymond Vassak, both of Dahlonega; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Jimmy will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Chris Conner officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 16, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
