Obit - Philmore "King Philly" McLean

Philmore G. McLean of Covington, also affectionately known as "King Philly", passed away December 7, 2014, at the age of 67. He cherished his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He LOVED women! He enjoyed working with his hands and was a jack of all trades. He was very intellectual in all subjects and enjoyed light-hearted conversation. King Philly was very charismatic, had a terrific sense of humor, enjoyed singing and was very good at it. He was a cowboy movie fanatic and would sit and watch them for hours. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him! He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent George and Hyacinth (Rugless) McLean; and his sister, Molly.

 

Survivors include his wife, Valrie E. McLean; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lenox of Stone Mountain; Tiona of Silver Spring, MD; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Lille (Mildred) of Conyers, Howard and Pam of Germantown, MD, Andrew and Lori of Gaithersburg MD; grandchildren, Howard, Jr., Big Jasmine, Koree, Chandler (CJ), Brendon, Aeneas, Little Jasmine, Ayden, Tyler, Teagan; great-granddaughter, MaKenzii; sisters, Arline, Valerie and Rick, Audrey and Leroy, Jennifer; brothers, Donovan, Keith and Alma, Ronald, Hugh and Allison; a host of adopted children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

 

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014, 11:30 AM, at Conyers Seventh Day Adventist, 3001 Old Salem Road, in Conyers, with Pastor John Strickland officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, December 20, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
