Lois Kathryn (Moffett) Brown, 88, of Oxford, passed away March 30, 2017. Mrs. Brown moved to Oxford in 1968. One of her careers was operating Tomlo Farms, where she worked with her husband, Thomas, as an egg supplier for Farm Fresh. A very active member of Macedonia Baptist Church for 50 years, Mrs. Brown served in many capacities: as treasurer, choir member, nursery worker, and played the violin for the church she loved so dearly. Mrs. Brown was also a former member of the Newton County Saddle Club, and a charter member of the Newton County Community Band – playing until 2013. Additionally, she loved to travel. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas S. Brown; parents, Charles and Ora F. Moffett.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doug Whitley; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Brown, all of Oxford; grandchildren, Tim and Robin Mobley of Oxford, Greg and Nichole Mobley of Covington, Chris Mobley, Drew and Teresa Mobley, all of Oxford, Crystal Brown Kelly of Covington, T.J. Brown of Athens; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017, 3 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Dr. Larry Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford. Flowers accepted, or donations may be made in her memory to the Newton County Arts Association for the Newton County Community Band, 1106 Washington St SW, Covington, GA 30014. newtoncountyarts.org
