Opal Faye Rosser Smith of Covington passed away March 17, 2017, at the age of 84. A charter member of Voice of Pentecost, Mrs. Smith served as an elder and was always active in her church. She was an inspiration to all. After retiring from Bibb Manufacturing in Porterdale, Mrs. Smith worked for White's Department Store in the children's department. Admired by her friends and loved by her family, Mrs. Smith enjoyed gardening and loved sweets. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Bobby Lee Smith, Sr.; son, Bobby Smith, Jr.; parents, Reggie and Nellie (Smith) Rosser; sister, Geneva Overby; brothers, W.T. Rosser, Fred Rosser, Reggie "Junior" Rosser, Robert Rosser, Ray Rosser, Glen Rosser.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rosene and Barry Watts of Social Circle; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Gail Smith of Covington, Mark and Stephanie Smith of Social Circle, Shirley Smith of Jersey; sister, Ollie Duke of Covington; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Smith will be held Monday, 2 PM, March 20, 2017, at Voice of Pentecost, 4648 Salem Road, in Covington, with Rev. Gavin Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with her family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Sunday, March 19th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
