obit for Ilene Ellis

Ilene Ellis of Oxford, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the age of 85. A woman of strong Christian faith, Mrs. Ellis was a charter member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where she remained a dedicated member for over 51 years. The legacy she leaves behind is one of love. Her capacity to care for others was immeasurable and unconditional. Mrs. Ellis instilled in her family a love for tradition – spending every holiday together. She took every opportunity to teach her children how to care for one another and offered her wisdom to help guide them along life's path. When not spending time with family, Mrs. Ellis liked to read, cook delicious meals, and can vegetables. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Arthur Floyd Ellis, Sr.; granddaughter, Brandie Nicole Ellis; sons-in-law, Terry Johnson, Jimmy Jones; parents, Jasper Newton and Bertha Lee Bell; as well as eight brothers and sisters.

 

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Jones, Janet and Roy Frix, Barbara Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Floyd (Junior) and Freddie Ellis; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Ellis will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with Pastor Kenny Dockins, Pastor Todd Heil, and Brion Frix officiating and interment following in Ellis Family Cemetery, in Oxford. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home on Friday, April 13^th, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
