Kathryn Martin of Oxford, passed away April 19, 2018, at the age of 76. Mrs. Martin was a member of Monroe First United Methodist Church where she actively participated in the Seekers Sunday School Class and was formerly a member of the Bell Choir. She spent much of her work career in the insurance industry and even served as President of the Independent Safety Services. Mrs. Martin will be remembered for her deep love of family – especially the special bond she shared with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Natalie Martin; step-son, Zeb Martin; mother, Lucille (Trimmer) Morrison; and father, Lloyd Shockley.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 51 years, Shelby Martin; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Christi Brownlow; step-son, Jay Martin and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Nicholas Brownlow, Zachary Brownlow; step-grandchildren, Nick Martin, Seth Martin, Sidney Pugh; sister, Carrine Straugh; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Martin will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Monroe First United Methodist Church, 400 S. Broad St, in Monroe, with Pastor Dane Wagner officiating and ennichement following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with her family at the reception following the service. Flowers are accepted, or, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30346.
