Mamie Durand McElreath

Mamie Durand McElreath of Covington, passed away December 30, 2016, at 93 years of age.  Lovingly known as "Granny", Mrs. McElreath was born and raised in Jersey, GA, and always had very fond memories of the years she spent on the farm.  A charter member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Mrs. McElreath enjoyed completing word search books and traveling to the mountains.  She loved her home and family and cherished the time she spent with her four great-granddaughters. Mrs. McElreath was the last surviving child of eight siblings.  She was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, Troy E. Durand; second husband, A.L. McElreath; son, Jerry Durand; sisters, Norma Wright, Sara Lawhorn, Ella Osborne, Frances Fleming; brothers, Buddy McCord, Tom McCord, Billy McCord; and son-in-law, Thomas H. Maloy. 

 

Survivors include her daughter Mary Linda Durand Maloy; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Wayne and Martha Jane House Durand; grandchildren, Thomas J. and Brande Maloy, Anthony T. Maloy, Julie P. Durand Chupp and husband, Barry, Leslie R. Durand; great-grandchildren, Katherine Maloy, Jill E. Maloy, Torie G. Maloy, Bailey N. Chupp; as well as several nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. McElreath will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017, 3:00 PM,  at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Rev Kenny Dockins, Rev. Todd Hiel, and Rev. James West officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, from 1:00 – 2:45 PM.

Daniel Henderson

Daniel Henderson of Covington passed away December 30, 2016, at 61 years of age.  A 1973 graduate of Newton County High School, Mr. Henderson worked in commercial construction for 43 years.  He enjoyed playing bass guitar, drums, and the piano.  Mr. Henderson was currently a member of Stewart Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his father, Bibb B. Henderson.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Dana Marie Henderson of Mufreesboro, TN, Sara Dawn Ivey of Covington; mother, Minnie Henderson, also of Covington; grandchildren, Jacob Neal Ivey, Aubrie Marie Ivey; sister, Permelia Henderson of Hapeville; brother, Phillip Henderson of Covington; as well as two nieces and two nephews.

 

A Graveside Service for Mr. Henderson will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Stewart Baptist Cemetery, 158 Stewart Church Road, Covington, with Rev. Jerry L. Jones officiating.

Raleigh Eldon LeFevre, Jr., of Covington, passed away December 29, 2016, at the age of 70. Mr. LeFevre retired from Hercules in 2002 and was a member of Pace Masonic Lodge #558. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh Eldon Sr., and Ginell (Hall) LeFevre.

 

Survivors include his wife, Susan Lefevre; daughter, Sharon LeFevre; granddaughter, Kayla LeFevre, all of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law; Trudy and Bill Harris of Dallas, GA; Martha and William Brantley of Duluth, GA; brother and sister-in-law; Mike and Kathy LeFevre of Gainesville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Obit - Martha Forney

Martha Mason Forney, longtime resident of Oxford, passed away December 26, 2016, at the age of 85. Mrs. Forney was an active member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church, in Oxford, and former president of the Oxford Historical Shrine Society. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, and worked as a Chemist, for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in Atlanta. Mrs. Forney was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed baking, cooking and traveling the world. Additionally, she cherished her family and friends and loved hosting them in her own home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Forney; parents, Robert, Sr., and Jeffie (Fitzpatrick) Mason; niece, Martha Liann Mason; and her nephew, Richard Lee Mason.

 

Survivors include her step-daughters, Susan Reichman, Sharon Lee and her husband, Todd, all of Stone Mountain; step-son, David Forney and his wife, Michelle, of Lilburn; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Rachel Mason of Covington; nieces, Debbie Williams and her husband, John, of Winder, Elizabeth Mason of Covington and Bonnie Mason of Athens.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Forney will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church, with interment following in Oxford Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Wednesday, December 28, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oxford Historical Shrine Society, P.O. Box 245, Oxford, GA 30054.

obit for Mrs. Chloe Garroutte

Chole Elizabeth Garroutte of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away December 23, 2016, at the age of 97. Mrs. Garroutte, the eldest of seven, lost her leg at the young age of 17 while protecting her siblings during a tragic accident. During WWII, Mrs. Garroutte worked for Boeing Aircraft Company making airplane parts. When her children were young, she was involved with both the Boy Scouts, and the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Garroutte was very active in her church, Westside Baptist Church in Muscogee, OK. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Garroutte was of strong will and opinion, remaining independent through the latter years of her life, even after losing her sight.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert Anderson Garroutte; sons, Charles Spears, Donald Eubanks; step-son, Robert Ray Garroutte; parents, Herbert Cornelius and Dovie Mae (Holland) Westbrook.

 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Ancel Bailey of Blairsville, GA, Nancy and Fred Selvage of Bear, DE; sons, Jimmy Eubanks of Bouthwyn, PA, Robert (Bobby) Garroutte, Jr., Shannon, NC; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Cryptside Service for Mrs. Garroutte will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016, 1:00 PM, at the Memory Chapel Mausoleum in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor John Davis officiating. Friends may visit with her family, one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM. Susie Myrtle Dimsdale Henderson of Oxford, passed away December 21, 2016, at the age of 96. Mrs. Henderson loved to sing, whether in church or with her family. For many years she and her family shared their vocal talents every Sunday on WGFS. Being the eldest of nine, she helped raise her younger siblings. Mrs. Henderson was known for cooking and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed working with her flowers. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Dimsdale; second husband, C.F. Henderson; daughter, Elaine Hinton Heatherly; grandson, Bobby Speight; granddaughter, Cynde Hinton; parents, Troy and Maude (Bates) Johnston.

James (Jim) Carl Davies

Mr. James (Jim) Carl Davies of Mansfield passed away peacefully December 18, 2016.  He was 83 years old at the time of his death.  In his early years James served in the Navy during the Korean War.  Later he attended and received degrees from several universities, including Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the Atlanta Law School.  His last career was IT Director for Newton County Tax Commissioner's office.  After his retirement James served as bailiff for the Jasper County court system.  He had a zest for life and loved spending time in his camper in the mountains of North Georgia, fishing on the flats in Florida, and especially enjoyed cruising.  He will be remembered for his ability to make people smile with his storytelling.  James will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, co-workers, and his many friends.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Stiles Davies.

 

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Barry Bowen; son and daughter-in-law, David and Connie Davies.  "Paw-Paw", as he was known, is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Drew and Alex Bowen, Zack (Amber) Davies and family, Grant Davies, Jonathan Davies, Brittany Lynn, Lauren (Andrew) Hodge and children, and Matt Keever.  Additionally he is survived by his siblings, William (Bill) Davies of Conyers, Kay Phillips of Gainesville, Glen (Mayjet) Davies of Big Canoe; sister-in-law, Jeanette Davis of Crede, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Family and friends will gather at a later date for a Celebration of Life.

William "Harold" Miller of Conyers, passed away December 18, 2016, at 66 years of age.  A member of Truth Chapel in Loganville and an avid NASCAR fan, Mr. Miller was known as the neighborhood mechanic.  He was a people person and will be remembered as a loving family man.  He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Cori (Robbins) Miller; sister, Walcie Mae Ray; brothers, David Miller and Carlos Miller.

 

Survivors include his wife, Pam Miller; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Clay Sims, Kelli and Jason Sluder; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Robin Miller; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Lewis, Jenny and Wayman Cunningham; brothers and sister-in-law, Glen Miller, Ray and Rose Miller; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

obit for Mr. William Sullivan

Mr. William (Bill) Sullivan of Covington, passed away December 18, 2016, at the age of 91. A WWII veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Sullivan served as Radarman, Third Class, from 1943 – 1945. During his military career, he served on the USS Sheridan, the USS Wren, and the USS Custer. Mr. Sullivan was a lifelong resident of Covington, and a member of Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church in Porterdale. He loved the beach, especially taking long walks on Ormand Beach in Florida. In addition to being an avid Braves fan, Mr. Sullivan enjoyed reading the newspaper, in its entirety, every day. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee and Julia (Watson) Sullivan.

 

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, who will miss him dearly, Polly Crowell Sullivan. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Mike Smith; son and fiancé, Mark Sullivan and Angie Williams, all of Covington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ann M. May of Covington, passed away December 17, 2016, at the age of 87. Mrs. May was an honors graduate of Porterdale High School, and went on to attend Tift College in Forsyth, GA. Mrs. May worked for ten years with Harper & Row Publishers, school department, in Atlanta. During her tenure with Harper & Rowe, she was responsible for organizing its first office. Mrs. May also authored the manual for the southeastern personnel of Harper & Rowe, inclusive of the eight states covered by the company. Due to her husband's job relocation, she moved to the Washington, DC, where she worked as an administrative assistant for the trust department of Union Trust Bank. Before moving back to Covington, Mrs. May retired in 1986 from Lorentz Radio Consulting in Washington, DC, where she worked as an office manager. She was a member of Porterdale Presbyterian Church, and was also a charter member of Good Samaritan Presbyterian Church in Waldorf, MD. Mrs. May enjoyed reading and gardening in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. May; son, Kenneth May; parents Henry H. and Lucille (Chapman) Kirk; brothers, William H. Kirk, Cecil Wayne Kirk, Lamar Kirk.

Robert E. "Bob" Samples

Robert E. "Bob" Samples of Covington, passed away December 12, 2016 at 84 years of age.  Mr. Samples served three years in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC, during the Korean War.  He was a graduate of Georgia State University as well as attending banking school as LSU.  Mr. Samples retired from Rockbridge Memorial Branch of Sun Trust Bank after 38 years of service.  A member of First Baptist Church in Covington since 1973, he enjoyed golfing with the Georgia Seniors Golfing Association and was an avid deer hunter for more than 30 years.  Mr. Samples especially enjoyed traveling and camping with his late wife, Barbara.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Miller Samples; parents, Ernest Willie and Annie Laurie (Gumm) Samples.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Gail Jones of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Stan Howard and Karen Dianne Samples of Suwanee; grandchildren, Robert Coleman Jones, Melissa Jones Brewer (Ryan Julian), Trevor Colin Samples, Chloe Brittain Samples; brother and sisters-in-law, Frank Samples of Fayetteville, Betty Davis, Lee Miller, both of Braselton, Runnell Lykins of East Peoria, IL.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Harry (Len) Colbert of Covington, passed away December 7, 2016, at the age of 72. Until his death, Mr. Colbert owned and operated C&C Printing along with his wife, Gloria. He was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed guitar and banjo music -- even being known for making guitars. Mr. Colbert, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was also one who never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harry and Clarise Elizabeth (Milligan) Colbert.

Jerry F. Nicholson of McDonough passed away December 3, 2016, at the age of 73. Mr. Nicholson was a very quiet, reserved person who enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR, and watching WWE. He was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. Also, his favorite clown was Emmett Kelly. Mr. Nicholson retired from Consolidated Freightways as a line haul supervisor after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Guy and Celestene (McCollum) Nicholson.

Being famous for her sweet tea, a song was written in her honor, "Mrs. Bell's Sweet Tea". Santa Johnny Hammond

Santa Johnny Hammond of Mansfield, passed away November 27, 2016, at 74 years of age.  After retiring from AT&T, he found his true life calling when he became Santa Johnny.  He brought joy to thousands of children who sat on his lap and whispered their Christmas wish lists in his ear.  He would tell them to mind their parents, brush their teeth, and say their prayers.  Santa Johnny carried in his heart the true meaning of Christmas.  Unfortunately Parkinson's disease ended his Santa career.  He was loved deeply and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hammond of Mansfield; daughters and son-in-law, Andrea Hammond of Covington, Heather and Stuart Nichols of Hiawassee; grandsons, Hunter and Kolby Moss; two sisters; two brothers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Memorial Service for Santa Johnny will be held Monday, December 5, 2016, 7:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers Street, SW, Covington, with Rev. Mike Wadley and Rev. Roy G. Webb, Jr., of Covington passed away November 27, 2016, at 89 years of age.  A member of The Baptist Tabernacle for over 40 years, Mr. Webb loved working at the church and preparing meals for his church family.  He enjoyed sitting on his front porch, cooking, working with his flowers, and traveling to the mountains with his wife Bernice.  Mr. Webb cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Webb; daughter, Teresa McCullers; grandson, Shane McCullers; parents, Roy J., Sr., and Lillie Mae Webb; brother, Robert Eddie Webb; and brother-in-law, Harvey C. Smith.

Charles H. "C.H." Berry, Jr. of Covington, age 92, passed away November 26, 2016, at his home in Almon surrounded by his family. Mr. Berry served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a carpenter and farmer all his life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Mr. Berry was the proud owner of Berry's Christmas Tree Farm in Covington, and served as County Commissioner for Newton County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Mattie Lou (Owens) Berry, Sr.

 

"C.H." is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Hilda E. Delories Carithers of Covington, passed away November 20, 2016, at 78 years of age.  Mrs. Carithers attended Gaithers United Methodist Church.  After 17 years of service at Hercules, she retired and began a new career as a supervisor at Stanley Tool.  Mrs. Carithers enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and cooking, but most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Carithers; son, Timothy Carithers; parents, William Elford and Doris Deann (Pierce) Brown; brother, Ronald Brown.

obit for Leo S. Mallard, Jr.

Leo S. Mallard, Jr. of Covington, passed away November 19, 2016, at the age of 52. Mr. Mallard was a former science educator at Eastside High School, a part of the Newton County Board of Education. He was a native of Covington, and attended Piedmont Academy (K-12) where he graduated in 1982. Mr. Mallard went on to attend Georgia Southern where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, then later transferred to UGA, where he received a B.S. in Forestry Resources with a concentration in Wildlife Management and Biology in 1988. While at UGA, he became a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Zeta, and Xi Sigma Honor Societies, and was also an active member of the National and UGA Chapter of the Wildlife Society and UGA Forestry Club. Mr. Mallard was also the recipient of the Southeastern Timberland Scholarship. He then served as an Environment Education Specialist at Rock Eagle 4-H Center for 2 years, then was hired as the Director of The Environmental Forest for the Elbert County Board of Education for 2 years. Mr. Mallard has been involved in Scouting for 20 plus years, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow. He served as Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master of Troop 222. Mr. Mallard also served as the District Camping Director, and attended Philmont Scout Ranch as a Crew Chief (1981) and Adult Supervisor (1989).  For three summers, he served as the Program Director for Bert Adams Scout Reservation. From 1993 to present, Mr. Mallard has been a science teacher for the Newton County Board of Education, teaching at Cousins Middle School and Eastside High School (2003 – present). He has served as School Webmaster for both schools, Science Department Chair (Cousins), Hearing Panel Member, Technology Committee, Partners in Education Committee, SACS Committee Member, Field Day County Committee, Track Coach, Assistant Football Coach and the Outdoorsmen Club Sponsor and Staff Development Instructor. Mr. Mallard was recognized as a Class Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars, and was selected as Eastside High School 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo S. Mallard, Sr.; grandparents, Leo and Mary S. Mallard, Allen J. and Isabel B. Gilbert.

 

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Renèe A. Mallard; daughter, Mackenzie L. Mallard; mother, Barbara G. Mallard; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa D. and Frank Goveaszzo of Cumming, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Judson D. and Lesli D. Mallard of Athens, GA; Clayton T. and Laura W. Mallard of Alpharetta, GA; nieces and nephews, Connor P. Lee, Gabriella N. Vitetta, Dominic A. Vitetta, Mason A. Mallard, Morgan K. Mallard, Nicholas P. Mallard, Jeremy R. Mallard, Martina A. Goveaszzo, and Melissa L.Goveaszzo.

 

A Memorial Service for Mr. Mallard will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Alan Posey officiating. Van Lec "Lecky" Hughes of Decatur, passed away November 14, 2016, at the age of 82. Ms. Hughes earned her Bachelors from Meredeth College, North Carolina. She was a member of Avondale Patillo United Methodist Church, and was a past member of Glen Haven United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abbott Milton and Ellieen (Tyler) McWhorter; sister, Nancy McWhorter Fisher.

 

Survivors include her sons, Rudolph Alton Hughes of Loganville, Cliff Abbott Hughes of Decatur, Davis Allen Hughes of Duluth; grandchildren, Joshua Abbott Hughes, Amanda and William Ladner; great-grandchildren, Parker Hughes, Hailey Ladner, William Ladner, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.

obit for Deputy Justin White

Deputy Justin White of Monticello, passed away November 15, 2016, at the age of 28. A 2007 graduate of Newton County High School, Justin served as a deputy with the Newton County Sheriff's Office since 2012. He was a very dedicated law enforcement official who cared deeply about the people he served. Justin was among the best in dealing with situations involving family violence. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, loved fresh-water fishing, and deer hunting. Justin was a very loving father, who worked hard to support his family. He considered his dog, Max, to be his "four-legged son." Polos and jeans were his favorite attire; anyone who wishes is encouraged to wear them for visitation. Justin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Brenda Vining.

Ethel "Ruth" Henderson

Ethel "Ruth" Henderson of Covington passed away November 15, 2016, at 79 years of age.  A member of Canaan Baptist Church, Mrs. Henderson enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, and funny movies.  She retired from Hercules after 29 years of service and began a new career at Ingles Deli. Mrs. Henderson will be remembered for the delicious food she prepared. Preceding her in death were her husband, Richard W. Henderson; son, Richard Eugene "Gene" Henderson; grandson, Timothy Curvin; great-grandson, Corbin Coffee; sister, Frances Lunsford; brothers, Morris Lunsford, James Lunsford, Robert Lunsford

Betty Ann (Sumlar) Hutcheson of Stone Mountain, passed away November 12, 2016, at the age of 77. Mrs. Hutcheson, affectionately known as "Nanny Betty," loved taking care of the children and grandchildren in her family. When not spending time with loved ones, she took pleasure in flower gardening, cooking, and listening to classic country music, especially Conway Twitty, Mrs. Hutcheson was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hutcheson; parents, Robert "Pete" Lee and Lillian (Byrd) Sumlar; and, sister, Dorothy Sumlar.

Steve Deal

Steve Deal of Mansfield passed away November 7, 2016, at 60 years of age.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Steve loved traveling and had traveled all over the world.  Known as "Cowboy", he opened Cowboys' BBQ so people could come and play the music he loved.  Steve was the proud father of Bobo, his wonderful and loyal dog.  Equipped with a great sense of humor, he loved life to the fullest and never met a stranger.  Steve cherished his family and enjoyed every minute he spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Betty Deal.

 

Survivors include his wife Vickie Deal of Mansfield; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Julianne Knowles of Mufreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Karsyn and Presley Knowles; and nephew, Thomas Few.

Salvatore L. Garland, Jr.

Salvatore L. Garland, Jr., of Madison passed away November 7, 2016, at 56 years of age.  A 1978 graduate of Newton County High School, Mr. Garland proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years.  He retired from the automobile industry as a Finance Manager after more than 20 years.  Mr. Salvatore was a long-time parishioner at St. Augustine Catholic Church.  In addition to being a fan of the Braves and Elvis, he enjoyed hunting.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Salvatore Louis, Sr., and Jacqueline (Vallett) Garland; and brother, Michael Garland.

 

Mr. Garland is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Ashley Garland; grandchildren, Cameron Garland, Triston Garland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Craig Baxter, Becky and Jeff Hinson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Leah Garland, John and Mary Garland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

obit for Charles Terry (Pop) Smith

Charles Terry (Pop) Smith of Oxford, passed away November 4, 2016, at the age of 69. Mr. Smith was a painter and mechanic for many years. Once known as the "best transmission man" in the Covington area, he was affectionately known as the "Rag Man" in his later years. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Never one to meet a stranger, and having a remarkable sense of humor were two of his greatest attributes. Mr. Smith enjoyed watching the History Channel and was an avid fan of NASCAR racing. He was a member of Calvary Community Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, William Patterson and Viola Ruth (Swofford) Smith; five brothers; and three sisters.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy W. Joseph M. Jackson of Covington, passed away November 2, 2016, at the age of 79. Mr. Jackson attended Eau Claire High School in Columbia, SC, where he was a star athlete for both the football and baseball teams. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Covington. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his son, Thomas LaGrant Jackson; and parents, Murdock and Annie Ruth (Hollingsworth) Jackson.

 

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Jackson; daughter Peggy Ann Adcox and her husband, Lonnie Alan Adcox, daughter, Charlene Jackson Timmie and her husband, James Davis Timmie, III; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

 

A Memorial Service for Mr. Jackson will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Calvary Baptist Church, 4228 Mill Street, Covington, with Pastor Ron Swann officiating. Following his service, everyone is invited to stay for refreshments and fellowship with Mr. Jackson's family.
