Clara A. Carter

Clara A. Carter of Social Circle passed away January 9, 2017, at 87 years of age.  Mrs. Carter enjoyed reading, collecting Indian memorabilia, and cooking.  She was also a skilled seamstress and quilter.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William James Carter, Sr.; daughter, Brenda Dale Smith; son, Jack Tildon Carter; grandchildren, Barbara Ann Franklin, Beverly Jean Carter; great-grandson, Chase Jefferey Smith; parents, Robert Milton and Della Mae (Brown) Tedford; and brothers, Ray Tedford, Teddy Tedford.

 

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Maggie and Walt Lumley of Dublin, Carolyn and Tommy Smith of Oxford, Patricia and Tony Burnett of Monticello; sons and daughters-in-law, William James, Jr., "Butch" and Glenda Carter of Covington, Robert and Martha Carter of Eatonton, Marvin "Doug" and Cindy Carter of Covington, Kelvin Dudley and Lisa Carter of Social Circle; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Dottie and Warren Sparks of Phoenix, AZ; and well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Carter will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Dr. David C. Moody and Pastor Darrell Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
