obit for Randy Rogers

Randy Rogers of Covington, passed away January 26, 2017, at the age of 78. Mr. Rogers, a devoted family man, was affectionately known as "Big Daddy" to his children and grandchildren. Armed with an infectious personality, he will be remembered for joking with his grandchildren and living life to the fullest. Having a heart for the elderly, Mr. Rogers was a dedicated volunteer at Newton Hospital. He also enjoyed hunting, especially deer and bird hunting, and coached the Atlanta Gas softball team. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gertrude (Wood) Rogers.

 

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Janet Rogers; daughters and sons-in-law; Tara and Bobby Moon, Traci and Mike Walden; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Becky Smith, Charles and Judy Smith, Doug and Kathi Smith; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Rogers will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, 5:00 PM, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home, two hours prior to his service, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, 1577 NE Expressway, Suite A, Atlanta, GA, 30329.
