Julio P. Santana of Covington passed away November 23, 2013 at Newton Medical Center. He was 66 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Santana was employed by New York University, in New York City, as a Maintenance Supervisor for 12 years. Prior to his employment at NYU, he was employed for 10 years by Sound Design in New Jersey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and Vietnam. Mr. Santana was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Covington. He was an avid baseball fan, especially the New York Mets; and was a fan of the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Mr. Santana was preceded in death by his parents, Julio Santana and Petronila (Valentin) Soto.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Maria Santana of Covington; daughters, Adelvi Santana of Yonkers, NY, Carolyn Callwood of Conyers; son, Julio Peter Santana of Yonkers, NY; grandchildren, Diamond Callwood, Stephanie Cruz, Albert Callwood, Tristen Callwood; sister, Josephine Velez of Guayama, Puerto Rico; brothers, Esteban Santana of Carolina, Puerto Rico, Florencio Santana of Guayama, Puerto Rico; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Santana will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Robert Lee Shepherd, III officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday. November 29, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
