Lucile H. Lloyd of Oxford, passed away November 25, 2013, at the age of 87. Mrs. Lloyd worked as a weld inspector for Lockheed, and was the perfect example of Rosie the Riveter, a cultural icon representing the American working woman, during World War II. She enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, and traveling to the beach and the mountains. Mrs. Lloyd loved her family dearly, and enjoyed going home and spending time with her Metasville family, as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin B. Lloyd; and her parents, George T. Sr., and Florence (Motes) Hall.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah L. and Allen K. Nielsen of Oxford; son, Steven A. Lloyd of Eatonton; grandson, John Lloyd of Maysville; sister, Frances H. Lloyd of Jackson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and Mary K. Hall, George T. and Betty Hall, Lewis and Inez Hall, all of Metasville, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lloyd will be held Friday, November 29, 2013, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Ron Hieber officiating, and interment following in Fairview Memorial Gardens, in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
