John F. Hogan of Social Circle, passed away November 4, 2013, at the age of 86. Mr. Hogan was a lifelong resident of Walton County, and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, in Social Circle. In addition, he was a member of Dawson Masonic Lodge # 68, also in Social Circle. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 11 years of employment, and from Covington Furniture Company after 4 years of dedicated service. Mr. Hogan was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Drue Willie Everett Hogan; and his sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Hogan, Mike and Gail Hogan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Helen (Sullivan) Hogan; sister, Hazel Hogan of Mt. Dora, FL; sister-in-law, Joyce Knight of Social Circle; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Hogan will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013, 1:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church, in Social Circle, with Rev. Milton Wood and Mr. Bill Clegg officiating, and interment following in Social Circle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Wednesday, November 6, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Social Circle, c/o Building Fund, P.O. Box 428, Social Circle, GA 30025.
