Gladys H. Kerbow went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 17th. Mrs. Kerbow was born in Porterdale, Georgia, on June 9, 1928. She worked for a number of years for the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Porterdale, but then went to work for the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta where she had a distinguished career until her retirement. Mrs. Kerbow was very involved at the Porterdale Baptist Church and later at Glen Haven Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and serving on a Cooking Team. She loved the Lord, loved studying His Word, and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Kerbow; her parents, Charles W. Haggard, Sr., and Willie Mae Haggard; her sister, Doris Haggard Hatchell; granddaughter, Amy Rebecca Peeks; and nephew, Charles Nicholas Haggard.
She is survived by her only child and son-in-law, Donna Kay and Troy Timothy Piper of Porterdale; grandchildren, Lisa and Steve Long of Loganville, Beth Cope of Covington, Troy Ryan and Nikki Piper of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Matthew Adam Neely and Kayla Marie Neely of Loganville, Kelsey Rebecca Cope of Covington, Thom Piper, Charley Piper, Nate Piper, all of Duluth; great-great-granddaughter, Kymani Marie Neely of Loganville; sisters, Marion Haggard Hampton, Hazel Haggard Cordell, Charlene Haggard Bell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles W. Jr., and Sharon Haggard of Sarasota, FL, Sidney L. and Jeanette Haggard of Covington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Kerbow will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Pastor Emeritus J. Ralph Easterwood of Glen Haven Baptist, in McDonough, and Pastor William Herndon of Porterdale Presbyterian Church officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 19, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
